It was the coldest day in November so far but our spirits were high as we prepared for our annual Christmas Tombola and Lucky Dip.
Our five eager, a bit cold , volunteers dressed the table with a wintery feel in blues , whites and silvers, using empty boxes wrapped in Christmas paper to build the display. We had prepared the tombola prizes beforehand, giving them a make over with glittery ribbons, shiny bows and dazzling Christmas bags.. As usual we had a few extra donations on the day so a couple of inspired young Friends quickly gave them the magic touch turning them into splendid tombola prizes. This year we had freshly made biscuits from one of the Friends and wonderful new children’s books from our beloved Library.
The volunteers really got into the feel of the day by putting on there best Christmas jumpers, and wearing festive hairbands. A couple of Friends went a bit further dressing as a snowman and faithful reindeer. We made people and kids smile and even laugh out loud.
A steady stream of people came in to our Library most only to happy to have a go on our tombola, most were very happy with their prizes, sometimes we cheated , especially the children, they got to pick what they wanted. One child winner spent a good ten minutes mulling over what he wanted finally his Mum picked.
With our second pair of Volunteers that day we finally packed with unfortunately quite a few left over prizes. We took the perishable prizes to the food bank and the rest were stored for another time.
For such a quiet day we were really pleased with our £53 profit which will set us up for the following year , helping us pay for new plants, events and other ways we can support and promote our lovely Library.
Big Thank You to Sainsbury’s and Friends for tombola donations. The Library Staff for there wonderful help. To everyone who came and supported us. Thank You.
