Dr Edmund Tso, Chiropractor
My name is Dr Edmund Tso, and I have been serving the Sussex community as a chiropractor at BritChiro Clinics in Horsham since 2017, when my wife and I first moved to this beautiful part of the world. These days, I live in the village of Rudgwick with my family, and every morning I wake up grateful for the path my life has taken — one where I can help people discover what it really means to look after their bodies and live well.
But my story didn’t begin here.
Early Roots
I was born in Hong Kong and spent the first eight years of my life in a very traditional Chinese upbringing. My father was a hardworking man who made countless sacrifices to put me through school. From him I inherited a strong work ethic, discipline, and a deep sense of family values.

When I moved to the UK at the age of eight, everything changed. I was enrolled at a boarding school in the countryside of Devon. At first, it was a shock — far from family, thrown into a world that felt strange and unfamiliar. But over time, my classmates became like brothers. Boarding school gave me resilience and independence, but it also gave me something else: a love of sport.
Up until then, I hadn’t been particularly healthy. I wasn’t especially fit, and I didn’t know much about exercise. But surrounded by games fields, teams, and the camaraderie of competition, I began to discover the joy of moving my body. Rugby, athletics, general fitness — I found confidence and self-belief through sport, and that discovery sparked a fascination with the human body that would shape the rest of my life.

Studying the Human Body
After leaving school, I went to the University of Bristol, where I studied Applied Anatomy. For three years, I immersed myself in the brilliance of biology — how muscles, nerves, and organs work in harmony; how the systems of the body are intricately connected.
University life also exposed me to a diversity of people and perspectives. Some were passionate about sport, others were not; some pursued medicine, others research. Being part of that environment forced me to grow up quickly, but it also clarified something within me: I wanted to devote my life to helping people make the most of their health.

At first, I didn’t know exactly how. Many of my peers were heading down the traditional medical route: surgery, pharmaceuticals, invasive procedures. But something about that path didn’t sit right with me. I wanted to help people in a way that honoured the body and harnessed its natural ability to heal.
That’s how I found chiropractic.
Why Chiropractic?
Unlike some of my colleagues, I don’t have the classic story of being taken to a chiropractor as a child and experiencing a life-changing adjustment. My journey was more intellectual.
I looked at all the ways I could combine my love for anatomy, my respect for natural health, and my desire to inspire others — and chiropractic ticked every box.

I went on to earn a Master’s degree in Chiropractic from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic. That training gave me not only the technical skills but also the philosophy that guides my work to this day: that the body is designed to heal, given the right conditions, and that our role as chiropractors is to facilitate that process. Since then, I can honestly say I’ve found the best job in the world.
Serving the Community
When my wife and I moved to Horsham in 2017, we felt immediately at home in Sussex. Soon after, I began working with BritChiro Clinics, serving people from all walks of life: tradespeople, office workers, parents, athletes, teenagers, and grandparents. Not long after, we settled in the village of Rudgwick, where our family has grown to include two wonderful sons, three rabbits, and a number of hens.

Life here is full and joyful. The boys keep us on our toes, the pets bring constant amusement, and the village community has been a warm and grounding place to raise a family. My sons have grown up knowing that health isn’t something to take for granted — it’s something we nurture daily. I’ve even adjusted our rabbits and hens, which may sound unusual, but I can tell you this: if you have a spine, you can benefit from chiropractic care!
A Holistic Approach
My approach has always been holistic. Every patient who walks through my door brings a unique set of circumstances — physical stress from work, emotional stress from life’s challenges, chemical stress from diet and environment. My role is to understand how those stresses are affecting their nervous system and to provide the tools to restore balance.
Of course, chiropractic adjustments are central. But they’re not the whole story. I also guide patients on nutrition, supplementation, posture, exercise, and lifestyle habits that support long-term wellbeing. Healing isn’t something I do to people. It’s something we create together.

And this is important: most of our patients have been told at some point that they have to “live with” their suffering. They’ve been told their pain is down to age, or that nothing can be done. That message is not only discouraging — it’s often untrue. With the correct approach and proper knowledge, many problems can be resolved, and people can retake control of their health.
Beyond Pain Relief
Many people think of chiropractic as treatment for back pain, neck pain, or headaches. And yes, those are common reasons people come to see me. But the real value of chiropractic goes deeper.
Pain is often the last symptom to appear and the first to go. By the time you feel it, the problem has been building for months, maybe years. When we address the root cause — the imbalances in the spine and nervous system — people don’t just feel less pain. They feel more alive.

I’ve seen patients transform from surviving to thriving. They sleep more deeply. They become calmer with their children. They rediscover energy and joy. They discover a version of themselves they didn’t know existed. That ripple effect — a healthier parent, partner, colleague — spreads far beyond the clinic room.
Dispelling Misconceptions
One of the biggest misconceptions is that chiropractic is unsafe or painful. The truth is the opposite. The “clicking” sound of an adjustment is simply gas releasing from a joint — nothing more. Adjustments are precise, measured, and comfortable to receive.
As chiropractors, we are highly trained and regulated. We study anatomy and diagnosis to the same depth as medical doctors in our early years, with a focus on the spine and nervous system. Everything we do is grounded in science and guided by care.

Another misconception is that you should only see a chiropractor when you’re in pain. I often compare it to dentistry: you don’t wait until your teeth are falling out to brush them. You don’t wait until you’re in agony to see a dentist. You go regularly, because prevention is better than cure. The same principle applies to spinal health.
Continuous Growth
As a chiropractor, I’m committed to continuous professional development. Health is not static, and neither is the knowledge that supports it. I take a special interest in personal growth, nutrition, supplementation, and exercise — not just for my patients, but for myself as well.

I believe that to guide others, I have to walk the path too. That means looking after my own body, being present with my family, and showing up for my patients with focus and certainty. Chiropractic works, and I see its effectiveness every day. But it’s my responsibility to keep refining my skills so I can serve at the highest level.
Life in Rudgwick
Living in Rudgwick has been a gift. The slower pace of village life balances the intensity of my work. On weekends, you might find me in the outdoors with my family, or tending to our garden and pets. These simple rhythms — family meals, fresh air, community events — are part of health too.
Wellness isn’t just about what happens on the treatment table. It’s about how we live day to day. It’s about balance — moving well, eating well, and thinking well. Rudgwick has given me the space to live those values and to share them with my family.
My Philosophy
Over the years, I’ve realised something that still drives me today: most people don’t actually know what “well” feels like. They know how to get by, how to manage their aches and stresses, how to survive the week. But true wellness? That’s unfamiliar territory.
Chiropractic helps people discover that. It takes them from surviving to thriving, from enduring to enjoying. And when they feel that difference, their whole perspective shifts.

That’s why I believe everyone should see a chiropractor. Not everyone may want to, but everyone can benefit. Because just as brushing your teeth prevents cavities, regular chiropractic care keeps your nervous system functioning at its best. And when your nervous system is well, you are well.
A Final Word
I began life as an unhealthy child who didn’t know what his body was capable of. Today, I’m a husband, a father, a chiropractor, and a proud member of the Rudgwick community. I’ve adjusted countless spines and I’ve seen firsthand the transformation that comes when people begin to care for their bodies in the right way.
Looking after your body is not a chore. It’s not a luxury. It’s the foundation of a life well lived. And if there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s this: don’t wait until you’re in pain to start caring. Start now. Your future self will thank you.
Some Helpful Tips
Tip 1: Keep moving – regular movement keeps your spine moving properly and prevents stiffness. Even short walks or stretching breaks make a difference.
Tip 2: Regular Exercise – Exercises which involves moving the spine through its full range of motion helps maintain healthy mobility and stability in the spine.
Tip 3: Mind your posture – whether sitting at a desk, driving, or using a phone, keep your spine upright and avoid long periods of slouching.
Tip 4: Stress Management – emotional stress has a big impact on the health of nervous system. Have personal strategies to manage on-going stresses.
Tip 5: Get checked regularly – just like dental check-ups, chiropractic care helps keep your spine and nervous system functioning at their best.
