A Lifelong Marriage . . .

A Cranleigh couple celebrate – 50 years after they married in a local church

Angela and Michael Frawley tied the knot on 16th September 1967 and have lived in Cranleigh for almost 45 years. Angela, originally from Shere, and Michael, from Weybridge, met at a dance at the Stoke Hotel in Guildford while studying at different colleges in the town, and after a short courtship married at The Friary in Chilworth. Mike says, “I knew as soon as I saw her that I wanted to marry her!”.

Moving to Cranleigh in the early 1970s, they had four children – Steven, Claire, Rachel and David. Retired Angela, 72, after raising the children in the village, worked as a secretary and office manager at accountants Smith & Williamson and surveyors Lloyd Davies in Guildford, while Michael, 71, commutes daily to his job as a quantity surveyor in central London where he has worked on many prestigious projects including Crossrail and The Olympics. The couple are going on a romantic break in Budapest, Vienna and Salzburg to mark their golden anniversary before a family get-together at home in Rowly with their children and their families, including four young grandchildren.
