Cranleigh Arts Centre – December 2021

We have lots of festive things to offer this month! Come and create a beautiful Christmas Wreath, not only will you lean a new skill but you get to take home a beautiful fresh wreath for your door. We have classes for children to make gorgeous Christmas flowerpot decorations. A GIANT pantomime for the family of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. A broadcast of the Nutcracker and a family screening of Home Alone, followed by a pizza party.

A heart-warming tale of Tom (Timothy Spall), a pensioner whose wife, Mary (Phyllis Logan), has just passed away, who travels from Britain’s most Northerly point, John O’Groats, to his original hometown at its most Southerly point, Land’s End, using his free bus pass.

Comedy: Cranleigh Comedy Club with headliner Felicity Ward – Friday 3rd December, 7:30pm – Tickets £14
Join us for an evening of giggles, side-slaps and belly-laughs every other month at the Cranleigh Arts Centre.

This month’s show we will be bringing you some of our favourite artists off the telly, some amazing support acts and an award-winning compere.

Join TaleGate Theatre Productions this Christmas for the GIANT pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Follow our hero Jack and his daft Mum, Dame Trott as they climb the beanstalk, defeat the giant and save their best friend, Daisy the Cow.

Classical Music: Lunchtime Concert: Renata Konyicska Piano – Tuesday 7th December, 1:00pm
Renata Konyicska is a Hungarian concert pianist based in London, UK. She has performed recitals and chamber music concerts in festivals such as IMS Prussia Cove, Nuits Classiques Megève, Festival de Piano Classique Biarritz, Encuentro de Musica y Academia de Santander, Internationale Sommerakademie der ISA Reichenau, and Liszt Week Esztergom where she is invited to play every year since the festival was initiated.

Live Music: Classic Rock Revival – Saturday 11th December, 8:00pm – £16.50
Relive the glory days of Classic Rock from the 60s, 70s and 80s brought to you by a full 8-piece band in a spectacular, high-energy live show. Performing hits from genre-defining artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many more, Classic Rock Revival seamlessly capture the timeless essence of Classic Rock through their impeccable attention to detail.

The Nutcracker is a family favourite at Christmas time and is one of the most delightful ways to discover the enchantment of ballet. The story of Clara, a girl on a magical Christmas Eve adventure, is accompanied by sparkling music and even dancing sweets! Watch the full company of The Royal Ballet in this much-loved ballet classic.

Classical Music: Ariel Lanyi Piano – Wednesday 15th December, 7.30pm; £16; Under 25s £10, online viewing also
An avid chamber musician, Ariel has collaborated with leading members of the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as with eminent musicians such as Maria João Pires, Marina Piccinini, Charles Neidich, and Torleif Thedéen. Festival appearances include the Hvide Sande (Denmark), Ravello (Italy), Ausseer Festsommer (Austria), Bosa Antica (Sardinia) and Israel Festivals.

Nothing seems to go right for young Kate, a frustrated Londoner who works as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop. Dive into the Christmas holidays with this charming classic for all the family! The film starts at 2:15 but come at 2:00pm if you would like to buy pizza! Il Forno Volante will be here on arrival with a variety of vegetarian and meat options ready to receive once the film has finished. Test your precision and attention to detail against your friends and see if you could outwit some burglars with our battleplan competition for an extra £2!

Workshop: Christmas Wreaths – 3rd, 10:30am and 6:30pm, 10th, 6:30pm, 11th December, 10:00am; £45 per session
Are you a fan of foliage? Do you feel friendly with ferns? Hanker for holly? Come and create a beautiful Christmas wreath at Cranleigh Arts!

Workshop: Christmas Flower Pot Decorations – Saturday 11th December, 10am – 11am (3-6 yr) 11:15 – 12:15 (7-11 yrs)
£8 each session

Make amazing artworks to keep and treasure in a fun creative workshop led by local artist Miriana D’ambrosio (@miriartist_uk). Suitable for ages 5+. All materials provided.
