Cranleigh Country Market – Going, Going…Gone!

Cranleigh Country Market, formerly Cranleigh WI Market, has been part of Cranleigh’s Friday morning life since March 1980.

However, as with other stores in the village, over the past few years the Market has been struggling to survive, even though we offer fresh locally home-cooked food and preserves which contain no additional preservatives or artificial additives; a greener footprint you couldn’t wish for.  Hand-made items using traditional craft methods, home-grown seasonal plants and vegetables, local honey and free range eggs have also been available.

Realising that drastic action was required in order to survive and to be able to continue to offer a service to our loyal, regular customers, in April 2017 we dropped our trading days from every Friday to the first Friday of each month. Initially, this worked well but gradually, for a multitude of reasons, the impetus failed to continue.

It is therefore with much regret that, after just short of 39 years of trading in the village, Cranleigh Country Market will formally close on 31 December 2018.  Our last Market will be held on Friday 7 December 2018 – our Christmas Market, when we shall be offering complimentary tea or coffee, Christmas cake and mince pies to all our customers.

We hope you will be able to join us for our farewell to the village.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
