St Joseph’s Specialist School & College Radio Station Launch

St Joseph’s Specialist School and College are proud to announce the opening of its in-school radio station: ‘All Star FM’. The presenters will have their choice of songs to play out for the whole school to listen to.

St Joseph’s Specialist School and College caters for children between the ages of 5 –19 with moderate, complex and severe learning difficulties. The radio station enables them to develop their independent skills, encourages speaking and listening and also helps them overcome some of their social barriers.

Over the past year the learners have been recording their own shows ready for broadcast in January 2017 as well as recording interviews for BBC School Reports. This is an initiative set up to educate young people about broadcasting and current affairs. An example of this was last year’s interview with Bishop Richard Moth where one of the learners asked him interesting questions about his job.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
