Cranleigh Amateur Swimming Club – In Full Swing

It’s been another action-packed month in the lives of our amazing Cranleigh swimmers and coaches. The focus for the more senior squads has been getting ready for the annual Surrey Championships which were over three weekends in February.

The first weekend of events took place at Surrey Sports Park, with 10 swimmers representing Cranleigh. There were top 5 placings for four of our squad: with Alice Collins coming 5th in the 100m Breaststroke, Elizabeth King and Eve Webb both finishing 4th in their 100m Breaststroke and Connie Emmett finishing in 3rd place in the county in her 200m Breaststroke race. A fantastic set of results which are testament to the dedication and hard work of swimmers and coaches alike.

All of our young swimmers competed in the second of the three weekend events. This time at the fabulous London Aquatic Centre (venue for some of the most iconic events at the London 2012 Olympics). These inspiring settings really help to focuss the minds of our swimmers and give them a strong desire to improve their personal best times.

Speaking of inspiring settings, as a club, we are delighted that the proposals for the new leisure centre at Cranleigh are moving forward. We are looking forward to the impact the facility will have on the swimmers and the wider community. Having a new 6-lane pool will provide a real boost and much needed security to the club.

Outside of the pool, some of our Senior Squad spent a most enjoyable afternoon bowling at the Spectrum Centre. You will see from the photo that a great time was had by all!
