Special People And Places

Lieutenant Fester and his crew who dropped Violette by parachute behind enemy lines on the night of 7/8 June 1944

The month of June. A special time of the year when we can start to enjoy life as the summer weather begins. Special times and memories are what we remember from our childhood summers, the special people and things we shared together.

Some people in life say, do, or create ordinary things that can then become extraordinary, and life changing. They are special people who change the world making it a better place to live in, but end up laying down their own lives in the process.

Did you know: During the whole war, 51% of RAF Bomber Command were killed on operations, 12% were killed or wounded in non-operational accidents and 13% became prisoners of war or evaders. Only 24% survived the war unscathed.
