Cranleigh Amateur Swimming Club – Say thank you!

The pool at Arun Leisure Centre

After only a month of training swimmers attended the Littlehampton meet at Arun Leisure Centre. We were very well represented and all swimmers came with high hopes and big smiles even at 7am! Swimmers did amazingly well for so early in the season and we brought home 31 medals, a host of PB’s and 14 county qualifying times. Well done swimmers.

Last month we had a little look at our coaches. This month I wanted to highlight our parents and the committee members. Parents of swimmers are a dedicated bunch. We know our swimmers work hard but it requires a committed parent behind them to take and collect from multiple training sessions at often anti social times, like Friday nights, drive to Galas and cheer them on in the sweltering heat! And amongst this group are our committee members. This team of parents, who also have day jobs, give up their spare time to make the club run. A really special shout out needs to go to our fabulous Chair Lady Carla Stevens without whom our club would struggle to keep going. So thank you Carla.

Last month we talked about how swimming can lead to other possibilities and Annabel Morton’s triathlon triumphs. Some of our younger swimmers have been inspired by her and this month Abi and Aimee represented their school in the Guildford High School Aquathlon. This was a 200m Swim and 2km run. Both girls did really well and Abi brought home a medal.
