Rotary Charity Efforts

During the last Rotary year, the Cranleigh Rotary Club has donated more than £6,800 to various charities. Major beneficiaries included Ukraine refugees (£1,279), Cranleigh Food Bank (£525), Rowley’s Community Centre (£525), Cranleigh Food Bank (£525) and Shelter Boxes for international disaster aid (£590).

The Cranleigh Club also sponsored the Rotary Youth Leader (RYLA) course and collected shoe boxes just before Christmas that were sent to disadvantaged families in several Eastern European countries.

Another traditional charity sponsored by the Club was ‘Kids Out’, a fun day out at Chessington World of Adventure for 12 pupils and 14 carers from Jigsaw School.

A new venture last year was the donation of £250 to Wonersh United Reformed Church for Christmas presents. The presents were given to Guildford Besum, Salvation Army and vulnerable Mums with children in Guildford.

Santa Dash, a joint venture with Sunfit Cranleigh and Oakwood Business Consultants, raised £1,600 for Glebelands, the local secondary school.

Another major fundraising success that boosted the Club’s charity account was the return of the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir on 3 September 2022, when more than £1,000 was raised.

The ever-popular Rotary quiz was also extremely well supported, raising over £1,000 for local, community-based charities.
